Kathryn Hood (b. 1996) is an interdisciplinary artist who specializes in photography and mixed media. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, she received a BFA in Photography & BA in Spanish from UNC Charlotte in 2020.
Growing up in the South, Hood’s inspiration stems from her childhood; current social, political, & cultural issues; and how the two realities blend. Topics discussed include women's social identity, reproductive rights, mental illness, racist ideals, and the repercussions of capitalism. With influences ranging from fine artists to down-home makers in varying design fields, Hood plans to pursue a MFA, pushing her themes, media, and process.
